What Do You Need to Know About the Database?

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) hosts a comprehensive database of credit card agreements, offering valuable information for consumers. This database contains the terms and conditions of credit card agreements from hundreds of card issuers, including major banks and credit unions. Users can search for agreements by the name of the issuer or by the card's specific features.

This resource helps consumers compare different credit card offers, understand the fees, interest rates, and rewards programs associated with each card, and make informed decisions about which credit card best suits their needs. The CFPB's database is regularly updated to reflect the latest agreements, ensuring that the information remains current and relevant.

What Data Are Included in the Database?

You can browse the results using the "Show agreements by card issuer" search. This method provides access to all credit card contracts from the CFPB's most recent quarterly collection. The drop-down list includes credit card issuers that have filed a credit card agreement under Section 204 of the Credit Card Accountability and Disclosure Act of 2009 (CARD Act).

After selecting the card issuer, the following types of information will be available:

1. Name of the issuer
2. Text description of the agreement
3. Downloadable PDF format

How to Search the Database?

Searching the database is quick and easy. In the "Show Agreements by Card Issuer" section, just select the card issuer from the drop-down window, and the information will be directly available from the credit card agreement database.
